These two small pieces were created to go beside the door as you exit a place of prayer or meditation;
they are part of a private collection.
They were built around a family icon (the Mary) and a Christmas gift (the St. George). They are each about 7″ x 9″. They are made of hand-dyed pure wool felt mounted on artist’s canvas and backed with batik. They also include metal and glass beads, lace, diverse fibers, vintage and modern buttons, crystal, a metal lace rose, hand-crocheted vintage drops, turquoise beads, and a carved shell dragon. This immram is one of my resources for meditation workshops.
This 12″ x 15″ piece is called Rebirth. It again uses the Venus of Willendorf (who appears as a theme in a number of pieces, including Mater Mundi in the Store section). The materials include various fabrics and fibers, vintage buttons, polymer clay, shells, found objects, word tiles, malachite, coral, and Czech glass beads. The images (in addition to the woman) include the pomegranate, seeds in a glass jar, the birth canal design from the megalithic tumulus at Gavrinis, the waxing moon, and the labyrinth.

This immram is currently on private loan to a colleague for his counseling office.
Aspiration is 12″ x 18″ with a 6 1/2″ drop. It is a further exploration of moving outside the lines which I first did with Journey. (See My Story) The Red-Winged Blackbird was a familiar visitor in the marshy areas at the north end of the Street in Old Deerfield. The hills behind it are the familiar hills of home — softly rolling — quite unlike the majestic and much younger Rockies where I now live. In the piece, the hills are cut from the very first piece of chenille I made and the texture was lovely to work with.
In the black triangles at the top are two constellations: Cygnus and the Big Dipper. The bird’s wings are wired to allow them to stand away from the background. The stalks of reed that attach the nest drop to the larger piece are also wired to give dimension. The eggs in the nest are polymer clay.

Two versions of a parament for the
Season after Pentecost.
This is owned by First Plymouth Church (Englewood, Colorado).
The parament was designed to span the long Season after Pentecost. It is 24″ x 34″ and made of pieced batiks mounted on canvas with a batik backing. The branch is padded to give dimension and outlined in couched wool fiber. The green leaves are sewn to the background with couched veins. There are nine gold leaves (five are shown in place on the right) which attach by button to bring the tree from summer into fall. There is a corresponding drop for the lectern (approximately 6″ x 15″) and the senior minister has a stole made from the same selection of batiks.

This is the first immram I created in three dimensions when a dream
finally revealed how to accomplish it.
It is currently part of my resources for meditation workshops, but within a year, it will be for sale.
If you are interested in owning this piece, the price is available on request. Please contact me
Clarity measures 12″ x 15″. The background is an Asian print. It includes a silk print of a crane, vintage buttons, glass, bone, and pewter beads, the Chinese character for clarity imprinted in polymer clay, and a Buddha statue. It is mounted on canvas and backed with black and gold cotton. The Buddha sits in a three-dimensional lotus. The images also include the dharmachakra (8-spoked wheel), and a key representing the three jewels.
